This was my first time fishing the Spring Mills Trout Tourney. I must say I had a great time. The people there were very friendly. We arrived at the club house Friday around noon. After registering we were offered some good homemade ham popeye. They answered any questions you had. Me and my fiance then went out and scouted the stream. It was low and clear but had some nice deep riffles and holes. After we picked out some nice spots we waited and watched them stock. They floated almost all the fish which was nice and spread them out. I helped out carrying some buckets to the floats and the couple spots we bucket stocked. Then it was time for the waiting the game. We set up where we were going to fish. Met a lot of nice people while waiting. As 7 am approached a lot of anxious anglers waiting for the siren to sound. Saturday turned out to be a good day with my fiance landing two tags and I landed 4. We met some really cool guys also. Hats off to Dan and Jake really good guys and I can not wait to fish with them again. Everyone was laughing and have a good time on Saturday. You could barely tell that the starting temp was around freezing. Saturday wrap up I caught 4 tags worth 75 total, My fiance caught 2 tags worth 40 total and my buddy Ron caught 2 tags for a total of 20. The first day totals saw 61 percent of the tags caught. It was a good day. Ending day one the big fish was a 20 incher. Going into Sunday there was 146 tags left with the 500 dollar and 250 tags still out there. Also two big fish that could beat the 20 incher. First cast of the morning I caught another tag. Then the guy below me caught one. I later lost a couple more tags I really need to tie my knots better on my trout magnets. While sitting there people from the club were walking around asking for suggestions to improve the tourney. You can not ask for a nicer tourney. My fiance and me had a blast and left with a total of 7 tags for a total of 140 dollars. The best part was the friends we made. Great people, lots of fun and memories that last a lifetime. That is what it is all about. Ill be posting picture either today or tommorrow from this tourney. I
Hello fisherman, so the first big tagged tourney of the year has past. Congrats to the Bald Eagle Sportsman Club for putting on another fine tagged trout tourney this year. The weather was somewhat cooperative. The water conditions were not great but the dedicated fisherman found many of the tags. The last report I heard was that well over 50 percent of the tags were caught with the biggest one being 20 and 3/4 inches. I will have picture to load a little later. As for me I caught 10 the first day none with tags. The second day was a nice change of pace for my fiance caught her first tag at this tourney along with two others to end the day with 3 tags. I caught two tags on sunday with us leaving the tourney with 5 tags combines. Im glad the rain came in saturday it really helped the creek. As far as my friends went my one friend Rob caught a 16 1/2 inch Brownie that looks like a tank, his buddy Brandon caught the 16 inch Paly that was in creeks meet, Our other buddy Dave caught 4 tags the last we spoke with him. A shout out to my Buddy Bill who missed the tourney because his wife is in the hospital who is also my cousin, Hope you get well soon Colleen. The tourney was well run, and aside for the low water conditions it was a great tourney. Hats off to the Bald Eagle Sportsmans club. I had a blast made many new friends which always makes this tourney great. The food was good as always and a special thanks to Yeckleys Bait and Tackle for selling bait on the spot this year. There is alot of promise for this tourney to come and I feel everyone should try it, you will love it.
