Big Bald Eagle Tagged Trout Tourney Round Up!
This past weekend was the Big Bald Eagle Tagged Trout Tourney. It was a mixed bag on Saturday when it came to the weather, however that did not stop all the fisherman from hitting the creek. It was a fun time had by all. At 6 am hundreds of lines hit the water in hopes of catching that 1000 dollar trout, or one of the huge breeders with a tag in it. In the hole I was fishing the first cast brought fish screaming towards the baits. I myself was lucky enough to catch four tags, Unfortunately as I am sure many of you heard my first tag got out of my mesh bag and back into the water. Those things happen. I was lucky enough to be there when the 1000 dollar fish was caught right beside me. It is funny because you are bummed when that tag is gone but I felt really good for the man that caught it. Good job bud. Also a big shout out to the Jackson brothers Mark and John for another great tourney. This year at the end of day Saturday, 70 percent of the tags were caught. It was an amazing first day on the creek. It was nice to see all the friendly faces around once again, and to see all us fisherman coming together for two wonderful days on the stream. Great job Mark and John and to all the others that helped this tourney run smoothly each and every year on the second weekend of trout season. Also a big shout out to Tim Jackson, who help with all the stocking on both days. It takes a lot for these tourneys to come together and run smoothly and competitiveness aside we all should take time to thank each one of these individuals that make these tourneys happen for us. I also want to thank everyone who worked behind the scenes and in the clubhouse to make it all possible. I would also like to thank the Port Matilda Sportsman's for the great food. Yeckley's Baits in Bellwood was there to provide all of our bait and tackle needs. Thank you to all of you for making this happen. I had a great time. To all of you who have never been there check the adult tourney section of my site to see their upcoming tourneys. The Big Boy tourney is Saturday May 27th. Then in Sept. They have the Eagle Valley tourney on Sept 23rd. Both tourneys are a blast make sure you come out for them. You will find registration forms on my page as well for these tourneys. Again thank you Mark and John Jackson and all that helped make this tourney a success. I had a blast like I am sure many others did also. I look forward to seeing many of you at the Kittanning fishing derby this weekend the 29 and 30th. Till then tight lines everyone.
